"Demand for AI sovereignty has now been unleashed," said Alex Karp, co-founder and chief executive officer of Palantir. He called the quarter "otherworldly" and said customers "trust us to provide them with maximal control over their operations, data, and decisions."

Governments have spent the year standing up their own AI programs. China launched a 29-nation World AI Cooperation Organization in July, and the U.S. government is still Palantir's single largest revenue line at $809 million for the quarter.

The commercial business is closing on the government business

U.S. revenue was $1.573 billion, up 115% year over year. Within it, U.S. commercial revenue grew 149% to $764 million and U.S. government revenue grew 90% to $809 million. The gap between the two is $45 million, down from $92 million in the first quarter.

Palantir closed $2.132 billion of U.S. commercial total contract value during the quarter, up 153% and a company record. That figure is larger than the company's total revenue for the period. U.S. commercial remaining deal value ended at $6.238 billion, up 124%.

Net income attributable to common stockholders passed $1 billion in a quarter for the first time. It was $870.5 million in the first quarter and $326.7 million in the second quarter of 2025. Revenue for this quarter alone, $1.935 billion, was more than the $1.888 billion Palantir booked across the entire first half of 2025.

Cash, cash equivalents and short-term U.S. Treasury securities ended the quarter at $9.2 billion, against $8.0 billion three months earlier. Stock-based compensation was $265.2 million, up from $160.0 million a year ago, which works out to 13.7% of revenue against 15.9%.

What the raised guidance says about the second half

For the third quarter Palantir guided to revenue of $2.160 billion to $2.164 billion, about 12% above what it just reported, and adjusted income from operations of $1.292 billion to $1.296 billion.

The company put its Rule of 40 score at 155%. The measure adds a company's year-over-year revenue growth rate to its adjusted operating margin. In the first quarter release Karp said Palantir had "shattered the metric" at 145%, "a feat matched only by other fellow AI infrastructure companies: NVIDIA, Micron and SK hynix." Micron (MU) and SK Hynix (SKHY) have both fallen hard since late June as the pace of memory contract price increases slowed.

PLTR set its high of $207.52 on November 3, 2025. It fell to a 52-week low of $106.37 on June 25 during a broad first-half repricing across AI stocks. Monday's close is 39% below that high, and the after-hours price is about a third below it. The stock carries a market value near $302 billion and trades at 138 times trailing earnings.

The earnings call begins at 5 p.m. Eastern. "The sovereign AI revolution makes us very optimistic about the future," Karp said.

Frequently asked questions

Did Palantir beat earnings estimates for Q2 2026?

Yes, on every headline line. Palantir (PLTR) reported second quarter revenue of $1.935 billion against a consensus near $1.81 billion, adjusted earnings per share of $0.41 against $0.35, and adjusted EBITDA of $1.203 billion against $1.09 billion. Revenue grew 93% year over year and 19% from the first quarter. The result also cleared Palantir's own guidance, which called for $1.797 billion to $1.801 billion in revenue and $1.063 billion to $1.067 billion in adjusted income from operations. Adjusted EPS has topped consensus in each of the last five quarters, from the second quarter of 2025 through this one.

How much did Palantir raise its 2026 guidance?

Full year revenue guidance went to $8.150 billion to $8.158 billion from the $7.650 billion to $7.662 billion set on May 4, 2026, an increase of about $500 million. Adjusted income from operations guidance went to $4.889 billion to $4.897 billion from $4.440 billion to $4.452 billion. U.S. commercial revenue guidance rose by $200 million to more than $3.424 billion, a growth rate of at least 134%, and adjusted free cash flow guidance moved to $4.5 billion to $4.7 billion from $4.2 billion to $4.4 billion. Why is Palantir stock still down if the quarter was this strong?

The decline predates the quarter. PLTR closed at $207.52 on November 3, 2025, its 52-week high, and fell to a 52-week low of $106.37 on June 25, 2026 during a broad repricing of AI-linked stocks. Monday's close of $125.89 is 39% below the November high, and the stock was up more than 8% in early after-hours trading, near $138, which is about a third below it. The stock carries a market value near $302 billion and trades at about 138 times trailing earnings, so results and share price have been moving on different clocks. This is general market commentary and not investment advice.

Is Palantir's commercial business bigger than its government business?

Not yet, but the gap narrowed again. U.S. commercial revenue was $764 million in the second quarter, up 149% year over year, and U.S. government revenue was $809 million, up 90%. That leaves the two $45 million apart, against $92 million in the first quarter, when the figures were $595 million and $687 million. Palantir also closed a record $2.132 billion of U.S. commercial total contract value in the quarter, up 153%, and ended with U.S. commercial remaining deal value of $6.238 billion, up 124%. Total U.S. revenue was $1.573 billion, up 115%.

What is Palantir's Rule of 40 score?

155% for the second quarter of 2026, up from 145% in the first quarter. Palantir defines the Rule of 40 as its year-over-year revenue growth rate plus its adjusted operating margin, which works out to 93% plus 62% here. In the first quarter release, chief executive Alex Karp said Palantir had shattered the metric at 145%, calling it a feat matched only by other AI infrastructure companies he named as NVIDIA, Micron and SK hynix. The conventional software benchmark is a combined score of 40.

How profitable was Palantir in the second quarter of 2026?

GAAP net income attributable to common stockholders was $1.062 billion, a 55% margin and the first time the figure has crossed $1 billion in a quarter. It was $870.5 million in the first quarter of 2026 and $326.7 million in the second quarter of 2025. GAAP income from operations was $912 million at a 47% margin, adjusted income from operations was $1.194 billion at 62%, and adjusted free cash flow was $1.220 billion at 63%. Stock-based compensation was $265.2 million, or 13.7% of revenue, against $160.0 million and 15.9% a year earlier. Cash, cash equivalents and short-term U.S. Treasury securities ended at $9.2 billion.
